Thanksgiving. Really.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. If you do not observe this American holiday, I am confident you have many things for which to be thankful.
I am thankful my mom is still alive, despite her chemotherapy and advanced cancer.
I am thankful for the opportunity to travel throughout India this past summer.
This is exquisite inlaid precious stones

I am thankful I still have my marbles intact and will retire June 2014. When I retire, I want to write on my blog and visit other blogs. Right now I'm still busy with my career, taking care of my mother, and raising my grandson.
I am sorry for not blogging for so long. I really do miss it.

India, here I come!

Carey, Chris. streetlight.jpg. 1-Mar. Pics4Learning. 25 Jun 2013 <http://pics.tech4learning.com>

Remember playing the childhood game Green Light, Red Light? Well, the past 3 years of my life have been a game of Green Light, Red Light...lots of fits and starts...lots of drama and angst.

Today I just got a great big green light: I met with my mother's oncologist. My mother's cancer situation has stabilized so that she can get a well-deserved summer reprieve from chemotherapy. Her doc is pleased with her progress.
As for myself, I am all set to go on a trip to study in India. This Sunday I leave and am very grateful. God has answered my prayers, and the chemotherapy has done some good work.
Access to secure wifi is limited, so I might not post pics here until late August.
Namaste!

Mother's Day

It's been more than a month since I've been here.
Work has kept me too busy to blog.
I want to wish everyone a happy happy mother's day.
I'm very grateful my own mother, age 75, is still alive. She's been on chemotherapy off and on for almost 3 years now. She's looking forward to pausing the chemo
 for a summer break,
and I'm looking forward to a 40-day trip to India.
God bless everyone who nurtures
children and pets.

Bon Voyage

pic by Nan August 2011

The picture you see above was taken last August.
We went to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
We loved this particular resort so much
that we're going there next week.
I don't know where this 2012 summer went...it just flew by!
So much has happened this summer (good stuff), I have lots
to blog about.

Ah! Florida

pic taken by Nan July 2012
I took a very spontaneous 5-day trip to Fort Lauderdale Florida last week.  You see, my Mr7 had not seen his Biological Father since Christmas, and I decided to take him there to see his Dad.
Mr7's mother was sabotaging all efforts for the father and son to see each other. This Baby-Mama-Drama was breaking my heart, hence the whirlwind trip.
This pic you see is Hollywood Beach. I get there late afternoon, and the beach was nearly empty.
Heaven!

OMG

Last year's blooms
I've been waaaaay too busy at my job! I have two work-related blogs to maintain, and that's been sucking up all my time. Wah.
Spring recess begins Friday, so I will be back to BlogLand and catch up here. Yay!
In the meantime, my Mr6 has been keeping me busy here are home:

Re-Gifting faux pas

I love my sister-in-law. We always have fun.
This past Christmas she gave me a number of gifts, all beautifully packaged.
I smelled a rat.
You see, she has been really short on money this past year, and I was surprised by these generous gifts.
I confided to my Hubby that I suspect his sister was Re-Gifting.
Hubby just rolled his eyes and kind of made a snorting sound.
I really don't care. The economy has been tough on her. She works part-time as a clerk in a health clinic, and she knows many patients there.
So here is one of the gifts my dear SIL gave me:
Exhibit A

I love these plush blue gloves, and as I attempted to don the said gloves, I discover THIS! Fifty dollars carefully rolled into each finger!
Exhibit B

When I returned the money to my dear SIL, we both just laughed and laughed and laughed.
But I kept the gloves. Every time I wear them, I just laugh a little bit more.

MondayMuse: I remember August 2011

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic summer vacation

Every August my Hubbs and I go to the Dominican Republic for two weeks. We take Mr6 with us because he makes us laugh. His BioMom stays at home because I won't travel with her. Um, that's another blog post.
I always take photos such as the one you see here to carry me through the cold winter days.

Christmas wishes

I've discarded the wrapping paper that had been ripped off
earlier from all the presents.
Dinner is almost ready.
In a few days I will happily pack away
the fake Christmas tree. I've grown so tired of it already.
But you see my nativity crèche?
I'm going to leave this on the living room table for about a month.
This simple scene reminds me what it's been all about.
Merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah,
and happy Kwanzaa to all, and to all a good night.
