OMG

Last year's blooms
I've been waaaaay too busy at my job! I have two work-related blogs to maintain, and that's been sucking up all my time. Wah.
Spring recess begins Friday, so I will be back to BlogLand and catch up here. Yay!
In the meantime, my Mr6 has been keeping me busy here are home:

Cereal trickery: Kellogg Fruit Loops

Mr6 went with his BioMom to the supermarket the other day. She bought him this cereal to avoid embarrassing temper tantrums in Aisle 32 Dry Cereals.
Please examine the trickery on the front of the box:

My Mr6 actually thought he was going to be the lucky recipient of some HOT TOYS. He really REALLY thought there was a HOT TOY inside the box of cereal.
I had to break him the bad news by reading him the fine print on the back of said box.

Much later that night, Mr6 and I each enjoyed a bowl of cereal. Just watching him eat is prize enough for me.

Snot machine

My poor Mr6 gets the worst congestion.
Every winter the boy coughs and sneezes like nobody's business.
Just yesterday, as we were sitting in very close proximity (he was on my lap), he SNEEZED the mother-of-all-sneezes and sprays me with a VERY generous dose of bright green mucus.

Paris?!

The other day I actually slept in late...seven a.m. late.
Mr6 had other plans for me.
He crept into my room.
He whispered into my face and I could smell milk and Fruit Loops on his breath.
Him: Gamaaaaaa
Me: *frown*
Him: Gamaaaaa, have you been to Paris?
*I'm wondering just how much sugar our friends at Kellogg's are still putting in their cereals.*
Me: What do you want?
Him: I want to go to Paris.
Me: *sitting up* What do you know about Paris?
Him: I know it's the City of Love and they have the Eiffel tower there.
Me: I've never been there, but I was going to go there one day.
Him: Can we go tomorrow?
Me: Go where?
Him: Paris.
Me: Paris?
Him: Yes. We can go there and come right back home. Pleeeeeeese?
Me: No. It's far far away. I'll take you there when you're old enough to appreciate how much money I'll be dishing out for you (I really said this).
Him: Thank you Gamaaa. *smooch* Can I have some pancakes now?
He doesn't know this, but Paris is my first destination after I retire.
I was going to go there solo....you know, happy grown-up solo.
Escargot-and-champagne solo...
Looks like I now have to set aside some money to pay for HIS fare.
HEY. He just had a bowl of cereal. Why now the pancakes????

All I want for Christmas....

Christmas is just a few days away and already I'm itching to disassemble and pack away the tree, ornaments and all.
My Mr6 is obsessed with these ugly little things called Bey Blades.

There is nothing new under the sun. When I was a young girl back in the day when dinosaurs still roamed the earth, I had a short-lived obsession with tops. They were made of wood, and you had to wrap a long string around it. Then, with a quick snap of the wrist, your top would go spinning like..., well, like a top.

Since I am now oh-so-wise, I know Mr6 will soon tire of these annoying little Bey Blade thingies. Thank goodness I bought a few on sale at Target.
Now where did I put that big box to store away the Christmas tree....

Are you my grandma?

I want to know who is telling my Mr6 I'm not his grandmother.

Two weeks ago Mr6 spent the weekend with his BioDad's family. They live across town.
We maintain a cordial relationship with them.
Mr6 returns home and right away he asks me a question for which I actually didn't have an answer (remember, I'm a teacher and can make up answers in a heart beat).
Mr6: Gamaaaa, are you my grandmother?
Me: Well, what do YOU think?
Mr6: Yes, you ARE my grandmother.

Well this past weekend Mr6 spent the day visiting his BioDad's family once agian.
And again he posed me the exact same question when he returned home.
Mr6: Gamaaaa, are you my grandmother?
Me: Well, what do YOU think?
Mr6: No, you are not my grandmother.
Me: I'm NOT? (panic
Mr6: No, you're not my grandmother because you're not my mommy's mother.
*awkward silence*

Just then his BioMom walks into the room and he says, "Right Mom? Grandma is not your mother, so she is not my Grandma."
BioMom's answer stuns me. She responds with, "She is my step mother, so that means she IS your grandmother."

For all the animosity she and I once had, I couldn't believe she would come out with that generous statement.

For once I feel blessed.

Bathroom notes

Sometimes the only way I can get some well-deserved peace and quiet around here is to lock myself in the bathroom. If you have kids, you know just what I'm talking about.

One day a couple years ago, I was doing just that, sitting on my throne in the bathroom, aka the library. My Mr6 (then a Mr4) knocks on the door.
He tries to turn the knob.
Locked.
"Gammaaaa, I want to tell you something."
I frown.
I ignore him.
He then passes a note to me under the door.

As a teacher, I was just thrilled and proud to see my Mr4 learning to write on his little notepad.
As a Nan, I was, well, just tickled.

First tooth out!

While nomming at our favorite not-so-elegant Chinese buffet restaurant, Mr6 lost his first tooth. He didn't even notice. I saw the toothy gap because this boy never shuts his mouth. He is non-stop talk...even with a mountain of chicken wings in front of him. BTW he didn't swallow the tooth. I found it on his plate in a pile of chicken bones.
